Dorothy Taylor
Augusta, GA - Dorothy Hunter Hutchison Taylor, 97, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones.
Dot was born on May 31, 1917 in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Kate Hunter Hutchison and the late Ralph Martin Hutchison. After graduating from Queens College, Dot married the love of her life, Bill Taylor, on September 4, 1944. They were happily married for fifty-seven years. Dot was predeceased by her husband, Bill, her sister, Evelyn Pedrick and her brother, James Baker.
Dot worked in bookkeeping for several years with the Eckerd Stores in Charlotte and Castleberry Food Company in Augusta where she retired after thirty years. She was also co-owner of Augusta Sash and Door Company with her husband Bill.
Dot was for many years the secretary of the Garden City Bowling League and also a competitive bowler. She and Bill enjoyed traveling extensively in the United States and abroad.
Dot was a talented artist, a beautiful seamstress and an accomplished organ player. She was an avid Braves fan.
A true lady and a gentle woman, she was a devoted wife and gracious hostess. Dot is survived by her loving family: Beth and Joe Pollock, Ann and Wayne Hardy, Julie and Billy Badger, Sara Searle (Nathan), Kathryn Braxton (Ben), Ed Pollock (Jane), Austin Hardy, Taylor Hardy (Amanda), Samantha DeLappe (Steven), Will Badger (Cecilia), Margaret Badger, Nickles Badger, Halley Badger and several great grandchildren: Abby, Davis, Chandler, Sam, Hardy, Grady, Bill, Raina and Ruby.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Westover Memorial Park with Reverend Doctor Rodger Murchison officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the grave.
