James R. Washington age 77 of Brockton, died Monday February 9, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. He was born and raised in Giatto, West Virginia a son of the late Edward and Vivian (Davis) Washington and had lived in Brockton since 1986. Previously he had lived in Boston for many years. James had served in the US Air Force during the Viet Nam era. He had been a member of its chorus and had once performed at the White House
James retired as a technician from Polaroid after many years of service. He previously had worked at SS Pierce and the Sherrill House Nursing Home in Boston. His true passion was singing and had been the lead singer with the Pleasure Seekers and the Precisions. James enjoyed life to the fullest and will be remembered as a kind hearted, loving and helpful man.
James is survived by his daughter Angela Washington of Monroe, NC and was the brother of Thomas of Linden, NJ, Janis Thompson of Sacramento and the late Charlotte Desmond and Duane Washington. He also leaves several nieces and nephew.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Saturday 12-3 pm. Graveside services will be held at the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne on Tuesday at 1:30 pm.
