Funeral services for Opal Cravey McCard, age 90, 374 East Washington Ave, Ashburn will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. McCard died Wednesday at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany following a sudden illness.
Mrs. McCard was born in Turner County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Bill Jack and Lizzie Luke Cravey. She was a retired florist, a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church, the Joyful Messengers, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Garden Club. She had lived in Ashburn most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bryant McCard, Sr. in 1991 and one son James “Jimmy” McCard, Jr. in 1992.
She is survived by two grandsons: Bryant McCard, III, of Ashburn, Michael Sword, Seneca, S.C.; two Great Grandchildren: Joshua McCard of Ashburn and Toshua Sword, Seneca, S.C., two step great grand children: Slade Jobe and Thad Jobe, both of Ashburn. She is also survived by one sister Velma Lockett, Ft. Gaines, Ga.
Family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
