New Bedford-Lionel C. Mello died Monday December 27, 2004 at St. Luke’s Hospital, unexpectedly, with his family at his side. He was the father of Deborah A. and her husband Gilly Rebello of Dartmouth, Sharon A. and her husband Enoz Tornetta of Dartmouth, and Lisa M. and her husband Chris Rezendes of Dartmouth. He was survived by his 7 grandchildren- Ryan, Evan, and Kara Rebello, Andrew and Brandon Tornetta, Kylie and Kasey Rezendes. He was the former husband of Kathryn (DeSouza) Mello. He was the brother of the late Patricia Mello.
Mr. Mello was the son of the late Lionel B. and Lena (Roderiques) Mello. He live in the Dartmouth and New Bedford area all his life. He was a truck driver for Baxter Transportation in Hyannis and Yellow Freight, until his retirement in 1998. He was a class of “61” graduate of Dartmouth High School, Member of the Teamsters Local # 59. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly, and will be greatly missed.
In accordance with the wishes of the family his funeral was Private.
