Harley C. Johns, 68, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, February 6, 2015, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Monday, February 9, 2015, at the Fitzgerald Church of God with the Rev. Dewain Joiner and the Rev. Allen Hulett officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from Noon until the funeral hour.
Mr. Johns was born February 21, 1946, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late William Vilas Johns and Blanche Mae McSwain Johns. He was a supervisor with Lippert Components and lived in the community all of his life. He enjoyed growing flowers and tomatoes and loved to share his grape harvest with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God. Mr. Johns was a fervent prayer warrior, taking time out of each day to spend time in his prayer closet lifting up his family in prayer.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sharon Johns of Fitzgerald; his children: Harley Johns, Jr. of Ocilla, Jamie & Kristie Johns, Pam & Allen Hulett, and Robby Johns, all of Fitzgerald; Michael & Tracy Johns of Rebecca, Billy Jack Johns and Clint Johns, both of Fitzgerald, and Melissa & Shannon Braswell of Rebecca; 24 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosetta J. Giddens & Harold of Fitzgerald; and a brother, Frank Johns of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Landon Allen Brown; an infant brother: John Henry Johns, brothers: Howard Johns, Norman Alfred Johns, Jack Edward Johns, J. W. Johns, and Willie V. Johns; and a sister, Geneva Fulford.
