Dr. Ralph Levine, OD, age 93 of Needham, formerly of Revere died Feb.6th, at Beth Israel Hospital in Needham, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Laura (Spitz) Levine and beloved companion of Vera Alperin. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Minnie (Siparsky) Levine.
Ralph served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II; he graduated from the Massachusetts College of Optometry and worked in private practice for many years. He was also a clinical instructor at the Tufts New England Medical Center, Department of Ophthalmology, and a proud member of the Jewish War Veterans.
A resident of Revere, for 70 years and resident of Needham for 21 years. He is survived by his daughters Judy Elkayam and her husband Isaac of Skokie, IL, Deborah Donovan and her husband Patrick of Gloucester, and Iris Levine and her wife Lesili Beard of Culver City, CA, his grandchildren Heather Widtfeld and her husband Randy, Matthew Alexander and his wife Koryn, Laura Elkayam and her husband Ezra Balser, Ashley Parks and her husband Daniel, Rebecca Elkayam and her fiancé Michael Miller and 5 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Herman Levine and Molly Newfield.
Funeral service will be held TUESDAY FEB. 10th at 12:00 PM in the Sharon Memorial Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, interment to follow. Assisting the family with services is the Torf Funeral Service 151 Washington Ave., Chelsea. Memorial observances will be held at the home of Ashley & Daniel Parks Woodland Road, Middleton (last house on the street) following the service till 9PM, Wednesday and Thursday at the home of Deborah & Pat Donovan 4 Highland St. Gloucester from 1pm-8pm & Friday from 12pm-3pm, Tuesday at the home of Krista & Steve Alperin 239 Bridle Trail Road Needham from 7pm-9pm.
