WAYLAND/BEVERLY: Marjorie E. (Matheson) White, 94, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 5, 2015 following a brief illness.
She was born in Somerville on April 2, 1920 the daughter of the late Ewen Matheson and Lillian (Harrington) Matheson. She was the wife of the late Ernest T. White who died in 1968.
Marjorie is survived by her loving children; Joanne B. Walsh of Walpole, Susan G. Worden and her husband Ronald of Wakefield; William E. White and his wife Dolores of Medfield; Stephen P. White and his wife Christine of Yorktown, NY; Deborah J. Wilbur of Beverly and the late Thomas E. White who died in 1966. Sister of Marilyn Snow and Richard Matheson both of Kennebunk, ME. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Marjorie spent her formative years in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School. She also resided in Medford and in Wayland for over 20 years where she and her husband raised their family. She resided in Framingham for a period of time before moving to Beverly.
For many years, Marjorie was the owner of White’s Card Shop in Wayland Center before retiring. In her earlier years she was the Office Manager for Investment Properties in Newton. She was an avid reader and spent many hours assisting at food pantries and volunteering at fundraising activities. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all of the loves that she touched in her 94 years.
Private family services and interment in the White family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland have been held.
