Obituary

BUXTON- Cyrus “Cy” Palmer, 93, passed away peacefully
February 7, 2015, surrounded by his family.
Cy was born on July 8, 1921, the son of
Arthur and Evelyn Palmer. He grew up in
Bar Mills, earned the honor of Eagle Scout,
and graduated from Samuel D. Hanson
High School in Buxton.

Cy entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was trained
in Colorado with the ski patrol. He served in the
Asiatic Pacific Theater as platoon sergeant with the 132nd Infantry Regiment, and was dis-charged in 1946. He He married the love of his life,
Mary Snell, also of Bar Mills, on July 27,1946.

Cy graduated from The Northeastern
School of Accounting in 1948. He spent
his career working as a carpenter for the
Portland School Department.

Cy built a home on Little Sebago Lake where
he enjoyed boating, water skiing, and snowmobiling
with his family. In his retirement he and Mary
enjoyed camping, and they traveled around the country
multiple times. Cy played the organ, painted with oils,
and was a model train enthusiast.

Cy was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary.
He is survived by his four daughters, Nancy Lane
of Florida, Janalee Welch, Liana Poirier,
and Debra Gellespie, all of Maine; 10 grandchildren, and
10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend
and companion, Carline Ehrenborg of West Buxton.

A Funeral Service will be held this Saturday, Feb. 14 at 1 PM at the First Congregational Church of Buxton – Tory Hill. Burial will be in the spring at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery. Pastor Allison Flaherty will officiate
