SERVICES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY FEBRUARY 12TH. FUNERAL MASS IN ST. PAUL'S CHURCH WELLESLEY THURSDAY FEBRUARY 12TH AT 10AM.

PEVEAR, Priscilla P. Of Wellesley Hills, MA and New London, NH died in her home Wednesday, February 4, 2015. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Pevear was born in Boston in 1925 and had just celebrated her 90th birthday.

After graduating from Wheaton College, she was asked to stay and teach chemistry until MIT recruited her as an Assistant Professor. At the time, she was one of the few female professors at MIT, and her research on colloidal chemistry was nationally recognized.

In 1949, she married George Dustin Pevear. They shared sixty years of marriage prior to his passing in 2009. A resident of Wellesley since the 1950s, she is survived by her son, Richard Dustin Pevear, of Milton, MA, and her daughter, Susan Pierce Pevear, of Wellesley, MA.

Mrs. Pevear took great pride in her family's New England heritage. She was influential in the preservation of the original 1630's Pierce Homestead, located in Dorchester, Massachusetts, as well as in the recognition of the contributions of her McManus grandfather to the design of American Schooners in the late 1800s. Her understated ways, empathy, and keen interest in others, are just a few of the characteristics that engendered the enormous love felt for her by family and friends.

In addition to her daughter and son, Mrs. Pevear is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judith C. Pevear, of Milton, MA; her grandson, Richard Dustin Pevear, Jr., and his wife, Tiffany, of Wellesley, MA; a great-grandson, Jackson George Pevear; her granddaughter, Stephanie E. Pevear of Burlington, VT; a beloved sister-in-law, Mrs. Je-Je Pierce, as well as other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pevear was pre-deceased by her brother, Robert W. Pierce.

There will be a funeral Mass at St. Paul's Parish, 502 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA at 10:00am, Thursday, Feb 12th. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A private burial will follow.
