NATICK: Debra L. (Shagoury) O’Reilly, age 53, a lifelong Natick resident, died early Monday morning, February 3, 2015, after a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Brian Hugh O’Reilly who died on March 16th last year.
Born in Natick on April 27, 1961, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Vorce) Shagoury. Debra was a 1979 graduate of Natick High School and that year began work as an operator with New England Telephone. She remained with the phone company in various capacities through its many incarnations: Bell Atlantic in 1984, NYNEX in 1997, and ultimately Verizon in 2000. Deb retired in 2009.
Brian and Debra had been together from the time they started dating in high school. They were married in 1991, and stayed in their native Natick. His outgoing personality seemed incongruous with her penchant for staying quietly at home, but they complimented each other beautifully. The O’Reilly’s faithfully visited Disney World each year and enjoyed holidays and gatherings with family and close friends.
Debra was particularly devoted to her mother and when she became unable to care for herself, the O’Reilly’s moved in with her. Debra cared for her mom day and night for two years until her death in 2011.
Debra is survived by her much loved daughter, Susan L. O’Reilly, NHS Class of 2015; a sister, Pamela Ryan and her husband Kevin of Medway; a brother, Robert Shagoury, Jr of Natick; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Wednesday, February 11th at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Dell Park Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, 4 – 7PM. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Susan L. O’Reilly support trust fund, c/o Middlesex Savings Bank, 6 Main Street, Natick, MA 01760.
