Avanelle Hattery
July 13, 1912 - Feb. 4, 2015


Avanelle "Avie" Hattery, 102, was called home on February 4, 2015.

She was born July 13, 1912 to the late Harry and Lois Mosbaugh in Noblesville, IN..

She was a graduate of Noblesville High School in 1931. In 1934, she married the love of her life, Halford Hattery.

They had two daughters, Madelyn and Marsha, who they adored. Together as a family, they owned and operated family style restaurants for 42 years in Anderson, Alexandria and Yorktown.

After retirement, they enjoyed traveling and vacations together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Halford and her beloved daughter, Marsha Pettigrew.

Avanelle was the Queen Mother of the Red Hat Sisters of Anderson. She also enjoyed quilting at a local quilter's club. Avanelle was the oldest living breast cancer survivor (since 1977) in Madison County. She enjoyed attending the annual Community Hospital Survivor's banquet. Her other passions include cooking and baking and family dinners.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Madelyn (Matt) Conley of Sarasota, FL; grandsons Andy (Charla) Conley of Anderson and Bobby Pettigrew of Marion; granddaughters, Charlene (Rex) Butcher of Marion and Candy Conley of Anderson, and Marcy Butcher of Marion. She also has five great grandchildren, Amanda Butcher; Andrea Conley, Nikki Conley; Tigh Conley and Raelee Conley. She was also fortunate to have three great great grandchildren, Blake, Brielle and Joshua; also survived by nieces and nephews, Mike (Donna) Gentry; Sherry (Terry) Minton and Alice Mae Rulon; three dear friends, Esther Dodge, Bonnie Aley and Barbara Wright.

Services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Cliff Richardson and Tom Malbone officiating with burial in Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.

Visitation will be from noon until the funeral at 2 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Women's Breast Health Fund at Community Hospital or Marie's Hope at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
