Obituary

Rita C. L'Heureux, 97, formerly of Bouvier Ave. Manville died peacefully Sunday morning at Scallop Shell Health Care Center in Peacedale. She was the loving wife of the late Maurice J. L'Heureux.
Born in New Bedford she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Louisianne (Martin) Armstrong. As a youth she lived in Webster, MA and moved to Manville with her family where she lived for over 80 years.
Mrs. L’Heureux was employed at the Manville Jenckes Mill and later worked for the Town of Lincoln school lunch program.
A longtime active parishioner of St. James Church, Rita was recognized for teaching CCD for over 25 years and was involved in numerous activities at the parish. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Alphonse Yelle Post 9 American Legion and was active with Girl Scouts. Rita enjoyed swimming at the Woonsocket YMCA.
She is survived by her son Gerard M. “Jerry” L’Heureux and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Jamestown, four grandchildren Erik L’Heureux and his wife, Joa, Kristine McDevitt and her husband, Paul, Jeffrey L’Heureux and his wife, Angela, and Mark L'Heureux; and five great-grandchildren Aidan, Maya, Mirae, Narae and Sophia. She was the sister of the late Raymond, Arthur “Archie”, Jr., Henry and Ernest Armstrong and Armande “Mandy” Valois. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association - RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St. Suite 306 Providence, RI. 02906.
