Joseph C. “Joe” Handy of Fort Lauderdale, formerly of Norwood, passed away January 30, 2015. He was 88 years old.
Joe was born November 8, 1926 in Kfarhouna, Lebanon where he lived until he was in his twenties. He moved first to Venezuela and then on to Boston. He met and married his beloved wife, the late Madeline (Naddaff) and they were married for over 46 years when she passed in 2002. He was the dear and devoted father of Joanie McLean and her husband, Kevin of East Walpole. He was the cherished and loving grandfather of Kevin, Scott, Kerri and Christopher. He was the son of the late Chukri and Zahra Hindi and the caring brother of Juliette Bounehme, Therese Rizkallah, Nawoual Hindy, and the late Hassib Hindi, Nassibeh Azar, Marie Robehmed, George Hindy and Anthone Hindy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joe lived in Norwood most of his life and later retired to Florida full time. Joe’s favorite hobbies over the years included golfing, playing card games, following the stock market, gardening and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and watching them all grow up. He also loved to travel, particularly to his native Lebanon and visit his much loved family there.
Joe was an avid Boston sports fan, particularly the Red Sox and Patriots and he loved discussing sports games and strategies with his grandson Kevin.
Prior to retiring, Joe had a career as the owner of a real estate broker office. He also spent a large part of his working life as a real estate investor and landlord.
Joe’s Funeral Service was held February 6, 2015 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral 7 VFW Parkway, WEST ROXBURY.

Joe was laid to rest with his beloved Madeline at Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.
