BAR MILLS- Ruth Elizabeth Richards, age 82, of Woodman Road, passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2015 at her home, with her family by her side.
She was born in Kennebunk on Aug. 25, 1932, a daughter of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Gilpatric) Cameron.
After attending and graduating from Kennebunk schools, Ruth went on to work as a clerk at Marshall's and Your Country Store, all while raising her beloved family.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Bar Mills Fire Department Auxiliary, Buxton Grange, and assisted with the Food Co-Op with Joanne Groder.
Ruth enjoyed quilting, knitting, crossword puzzles, reading, and most importantly- spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her husband- Donald T. Richards in 2010; a son- Robert W. King in 2015; a sister- Arlene Waugh; and a great granddaughter- Amy Harris.
Ruth is survived by her children- Thomas Richards and his wife Denise of NC, Dorothy West and her husband Jay of Bar Mills, and Brenda Walden of LA; siblings- William Cameron of FL and Eva Weston of PA; grandchildren- Christopher Harris of Scarborough, Brandie Harris of Bar Mills, Kuestin Lurvey of Bar Mills, and Drew Richards of LA; and 5 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 6-8 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road, Buxton. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 3 PM at the First Congregational Church of Buxton – Tory Hill. Pastor Allison Flaherty will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring at South Buxton Cemetery.
