Worcester – Donald J. Lehtola, 79, of Worcester, died on Friday, January 30th in Saint Vincent Hospital after an illness.
Don is survived by his wife of 27 years, Marcia B. (Baker) Lehtola; 3 sons, Duane Lehtola and his companion, Suann Lamprey of Whitinsville, MA, Daryl Lehtola and his wife Gayle of Cape Cod, MA and Mark Lehtola of Worcester; a daughter, Charyl Strew and her husband Clayton of Cape Cod, MA; a step daughter, Lyn Tozeski of North Grafton; many grandchildren, including, Donald J. “Buddy” Lehtola, Brian J. Lehtola, Hayley Tozeski and Michael Tozeski; many nephews and nieces and his feline buddy, D’Artagnon.
Mr. Lehtola was born in Worcester, MA and was the only child of the late Otto J. and Irene (Boss) Lehtola. He is a graduate of the former Commerce High School in Worcester.
Donald worked as a driver for many years before retiring from Coghlin Electric Company. He previously worked for both Boston Burial Company and the Sessions Casket Company.
Mr. Lehtola was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC of Shrewsbury where he was a former Deacon and Usher for many years. Don was a member of the Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks #2118 and served in the capacity of Exalted Ruler. He also was a member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club and sang in the chorus. Mr. Lehtola also enjoyed traveling and he was a fan of all local sports.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5th at 11AM in the First Congregational Church UCC of Shrewsbury 19 Church Road. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 4th from 5 to 8 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester.
