Obituary

Mary G. “Sis” Reynolds, 79, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Crossview Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Reynolds was born October 5, 1935, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Charlie Richard & Louise Hasty Gordon. She grew up in the cotton mill and attended Lynwood School. She traveled extensively with her husband during his Air Force career including the states of Louisiana, Illinois, South Carolina, Texas, Alabama, and New Mexico as well as a short time in England before returning home to Fitzgerald. A beautician by trade, she earned her cosmetology license while living in Wichita Falls, Texas. She owned and operated Day & Nite Beauty Shop on Merrimac Drive. She also worked as a secretary to Reuben Fish. Mrs. Reynolds loved to sew and enjoyed decorating her home. Her family was her greatest love. She was a member of Crossview Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir and played piano when needed. She was a part of the Faith Trio and served the Ben Hill-Irwin Baptist Association as WMU Director.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Elton Reynolds of Fitzgerald; her two sons: David & Teresa Reynolds of Fitzgerald and Robert E. “Bobby” & Missy Reynolds of Gray; her grandchildren: Susan Elizabeth & Ian Steele of Porterdale, April Reynolds and Angela & Thomas Greathouse, all of Warner Robins, and Jodi & Joey Jones of Gray; and three great-grandchildren: Basil Steele, Jolie Jones, and Robert Greathouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Carlton “Doodlebug” Gordon, Elvin Gordon, Eddie Wright Gordon & M.W. “Bubba” Gordon.
