Obituary

LeRoy F. “Jack” Jackson, Jr., 83, of Raynham, died at home, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, January 30. Born, raised and educated in Kingston, son of the late Leroy and Grace (Smith) Jackson, he was the husband of Edith (Hutchinson) Jackson. Having spent most of his career in logistics, Jack retired from the Plymouth Rubber Company after 35 years. Prior to his years in Taunton, Jack spent time as a dairy farmer, and met his wife Edith, in Vermont. He brought his love of farming back to our area by farming land in Raynham, with his lifelong friend, Dick Viera of Fall River. Having voluntarily enlisted in the US Army, serving the 7th Infantry Division during the Korean War, he is a proud member of V.F.W. Post 2425 in Marion. A devout Christian, Jack shared fellowship in many different churches throughout the country – even as far away as San Dimas, CA. The Church in the Pines of Wareham and The First Baptist Church of Raynham are two local church congregations that Jack worshipped, sang with and served as a Deacon.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, Edith, the woman who meant the world to him, Jack is survived by his four children: Susan Jackson (and Peter Schueller) of New Milford, CT; Lee Jackson of Sandwich; David Jackson (and Frances) of Taunton; and Glen Jackson (and Catherine) of Raynham. Also left behind are his five, very special grandchildren: Philip, Jared, Justin, Colin and Caroline, and several nieces and nephews. Four sisters, who preceded Jack in death, are: Eleanor Zaniboni, Bertha ingalls, Evelyn Moskos, and Jane Dowd.

A Celebration of “Jack’s” Life will be held at 11AM on Monday, February 16, at The First Baptist Church, 494 Church Street in Raynham, with nephew Richard Moskos officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The Jackson family respectfully asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jack’s name be made to: The V.F.W. Benjamin D. Cushing Post 2425, 465 Mill Street, PO Box 126, Marion, MA 02738; The First Baptist Church, 494 Church Street, Raynham, MA 02767; or The Church in the Pines, 17 Carver Road, West Wareham, MA 02576. The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home at 467 Bay Street in Taunton assisted the family with Jack’s arrangements. For Jack’s online guestbook, please visit www.R-MFH.com.
