Obituary

Wilfred H.A. "Arthur" Cadieux, 85, of Dartmouth died Friday January 30, 2015 at Our Lady's Haven after a long illness. He was the husband of Paula M. (Brosseau) Cadieux.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Arthur E. and Yvonne (Henri) Cadieux, he lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of his life.

Mr. Cadieux was formerly employed as a brakeman for Conrail for 38 years until his retirement.

He served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard and was activated during the Korean Conflict.


A huge sports fan, Gramps loved attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events. He had also been a baseball and soccer coach for many years.

Survivors include his wife; six children, Sharon Azevedo and her husband Tony of New Bedford, Wayne Cadieux and his wife Sandra of Dartmouth, Susan Ste. Marie and her husband Steven of Plymouth, Stephen Dessert and his wife Shelle of Charlotte, N.C., David Dessert and his wife Linda of Wareham, and Christopher Dessert and his wife Lynn of Rochester; his sister, Theresa Blake of Hickory, N.C.; his special Godchild, James Cadieux; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Ernest Cadieux.


His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday April 10, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church, North Dartmouth. A private family burial service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Our Lady's Haven, 71 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
