Robert E. Hittle
January 2, 1927-January 31, 2015



Robert E. Hittle, 88, of Anderson, died January 31, 2015 St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.

He was born on January 2, 1927 in Anderson, the son of Dalphin and Pearl (Deeter) Hittle. He was a 1944 graduate of Anderson High School and in 1950 graduate of Purdue University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He served in the US Army and work for 32 years as a Process Engineer at Delco Remy, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a founding member of the Dolphin Club and was an avid tennis player. He was a 78 year member of the Anderson YMCA, played in the Alexandria / Anderson Community Band, and played against the 2 time world champion of table tennis.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Marge" (Schrenker) Hittle, whom he married on February 2, 1952. 7 Children: Robert (Rosita) Hittle Jr. of Indianapolis, Mary Jo (Marty) Makielski of Hoffman Estates, IL, Anne (Bill) Grossmann of Downers Grove, IL, Mark (Mary Beth) Hittle of Noblesville, Susan (Les) Snider of Jacksonville, FL , James (Patricia) Hittle of Anderson, and Michael (Paula) Hittle of LaMarada, CA. 18 grandchildren: Jennifer Hittle, Margaret Makielski, Michael Hittle, Peter Makielski, Sarah Grossman, Joey Guarnery, Matthew Hittle, Andrew Makielski, Andrew Grossman, Mary Anne Guarnery, Tommy Guarnery, Katie Hittle, Tommy Hittle, Chrissy Hittle, Hannah Hittle, Nicholas Hittle, Sam Hittle, Rose Hittle. 3 Great Grandchildren: Coen Wariner, Nathaniel Wariner, and Grey Rodriguez.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Baines

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. Visitation will also be held at the church beginning at 9:30 AM on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Anderson YMCA in lieu of flowers.
