Obituary

Herbert A. Lord, 82, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Worcester Health Center on January 28, 2015. Herb is survived by his wife of 54 years Beverly A. (Balderson) Lord, 3 daughters- Ann-Marie Heim and her husband Larry of Kerens, WV, Cindy Salmi and her husband Steven of Warren, MA, and Marcy Szostak and her husband Roger of Londonderry, NH; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers Theron (Sonny) Lord and Donald Lord, as well as his great-granddaughter Maya Downey.
Herb was born in Worcester, second son of the late Theron and Helen (Butterfield) Lord. He worked for the Salvation Army for 10 years, Sessions Casket Co. for 10 years, and Batesville Casket Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1994. He continued to deliver auto parts after retiring.
Herb and Bev fostered several children and adopted 3 girls. He was an active member of the Salvation Army for 57 years. His hobbies included ten pin bowling, listening to gospel and country music, and was an avid sports fan. Above all, he loved to befriend people.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park Paxton.
