Obituary

NOVEMBER 7, 1947 – JANUARY 28, 2015

Barbara “Rara” Anderson was a true original who marched to the beat of her own drum. Therefore, it is only fitting that her obituary celebrates the unique individual that she truly was.

An optimist to the core, Barbara spent her life looking on the bright side and drinking from a glass that was “half full”. When faced with adversity, she would pray for guidance, and when that didn’t always work, she would head straight to Marshalls. Clarity could always be found in a new pair of flip flops.

She was well educated and a gifted writer, Barbara’s work credits include, launching her own exceedingly successful children’s theatre program throughout the South Shore and teaching seventh grade English at the Marshfield Furnace Brook Middle School.

Throughout her adult life, Barbara never lived far from the ocean. She relished in decorating every intricate nook of each charming cottage she occupied. Her dog, clothes, jewelry, sea glass, yard sales, crime dramas, singing into hairbrushes, Christmastime, white wine, cooking, scrabble, potted plants, road trips and “white light” were Barbara’s favorite things.

She was a safe zone and support beam for so many of her loved ones. She made it a point to never cast judgment, and always saw the very best in each individual. She was a cheerleader to all and had an unwavering love for her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Tara White of Coral Springs, Florida and her daughter Erin Sweeney of Hanson, Massachusetts. Her brother Forrest Anderson of Lincoln, Nebraska, her sister Tracey Bookout of Rochester Hills, Michigan and her five precious grandchildren, Liam, Braedon, Quinn, Ella and TY.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday February 6, 2015 at the First Congregational Church located at 639 High Street in Hanson, with a “celebration of life” immediately following at the Meadow Brook Restaurant located at 1486 Main Street, Hanson.
In honor of carrying on Barbara's lifelong work and legacy, memorial contributions may be made to her children's theatre program at Anderson Anderdaughter 440 Gorwin Dr, Hanson MA 02341
