Obituary

Elizabeth G. Lewis, 92, of Snake Hill Road, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Elmhurst Extended Care Facility in Providence. She was born in October, 1922 in Aberdeen, Scotland, the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Thompson) Duncan. The family emigrated to Auckland, New Zealand in 1926. She met her husband, Donald, while he was on R&R during WWII. Betty was united in marriage to Donald W. Lewis in April, 1944. After the war she came to the United States under the war bride program. They were married for over 60 years. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2005.

She was a cook at Anna McCabe School in Smithfield for 25 years before retiring.

She is survived by her children: John Lewis and his wife, Lynne of Harrisville, Kenneth Lewis and his wife, Patricia of Glocester, Stephen Lewis and his husband, Gary Bassett of Riverside and Janice Pass and her husband, Curt of Durham, ME, six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers: Robert and John Duncan and her niece, Lesley Duncan all of Auckland, New Zealand.

Her funeral service will be held Monday at 9am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Sunday 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
