Marilyn C. (Ryan) Dunphy, age 88, passed away on Jan. 21, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 5, 1926 in Springfield, a daughter of the late Edward T. and Mary G. (O’Connor) Ryan. She was a Lt. Commander in the US Navy who served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Marilyn later worked as a director of nursing at Willimansett Nursing Center West, before she retired. She was a communicant of the former St George Church and also of St Rose de Lima Parish in Chicopee. She loved to watch pro and college football and she loved to read. Marilyn was her family’s historian and loved looking at and collecting family photographs. She leaves her brother Fulton Ryan of Kingfield, ME; her sister Lois Ryan of Chicopee along with many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dear friends Jane Gwozdzik and Marilyn O’Brien. She is predeceased by her sister-in-law, JoAnn Ryan, 2 brothers, Arthur and Edward Ryan and also by her sister, Celine Paquette. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in St Rose de Lima Church followed by burial at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
