Obituary

MANSFIELD – Sarah M. (Strazzere) Nichols, wife of the late Robert F. “Bob” Nichols to whom she was married for sixty-one years, died at the Village at Willow Crossing in Mansfield on Jan. 24, 2015.
She was 82.
Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late George and Josephine (Zuppula) Strazzere.
A former Taunton and Stoughton resident, Sarah grew up in Medford and attended the former Boston Girls School.
She later graduated from the School of Practical Nursing.
A retired LPN, she was employed by the former Goddard Hospital of Stoughton for many years.
She was a communicant of Taunton’s St. Jude the Apostle Church, where she was an active member of the choir.
Since 1970, and until her husband’s death in 2011, Sarah’s one passion was square dancing.
A board member of the Happy Squares and SEMCA, she and her late husband made many friends and spent countless hours dancing.
Survivors include a son, Robert G. Nichols; three daughters, Patricia Padelford Nichols, Elizabeth Harris and Susan Ruggiero; seven grandchildren, Michael Williams, Monica Ruggiero, David “Jake” Ruggiero, Michael Hall, John Padelford, Emily White and Jenifer DeMario; and many great grandchildren.
She was also sister of the late Joseph, Frank and Sam Strazzere.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, Jan. 30th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 29th from 4 to 7 p.m.
