Augusta – Dorothy H. Thomas Thompson entered into rest from natural causes on Friday, January 23, 2015 at her residence.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Sheryl Padgett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
Dorothy was born on October 4, 1925 in Marietta, Minnesota. Her family moved to Iowa when she was six months of age, living first in Charles City, then in Mt. Pleasant, where she graduated from high school in 1943. She went on to graduate from the nursing program at the University of Iowa, and received her degree (with distinction) from the University of Minnesota. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society. Dorothy practiced nursing in Missouri, Hawaii, Kansas, California, Florida and Georgia. Since retirement, she has been active at Christ Church Unity, Georgia Nurses Association, Nurse Advocate Program and Hope House for Women, which she cofounded.
She is survived by nieces and nephews; Ann, Vicky, Bridgett, Joe and Jeff, and extended family. “Thanks for being part of my life!”
