Obituary

Paxton-Irene J. (Pakkala) Lindquist, 88, died peacefully at her daughter's home on Thursday, January 22, 2015. She leaves two daughters, Karen Simpson and her husband William of Brookfield, Debra Bicknell and her husband Jack of Worcester, a son Robert Lindquist Jr. and his wife Margaret of Hopkinton, a sister Ruth Lammi and her husband Reino, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert Sr., daughter Cynthia Lindquist, and sister Sylvia Scala.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of John and Enni (Lehtola) Pakkala. Irene was devoted to her family and looked forward to the special times she had with her grandchildren. Knitting was a favorite hobby of hers and she enjoyed dancing with her late husband at the Finn Park in Rutland for many years. She cherished her trips to the beaches of Maine, Cape Cod, and Florida and was a lifelong resident of Paxton, a town she came to love very much. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the VNA Hospice for the wonderful care of their mother.

Calling hours will be held SUNDAY, February 1, 2015 from 1:00-3:00pm at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m in the funeral home. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Care Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas St. Worcester, MA 01608.
