Everett J. Young
...Korean War U.S.A.F. Veteran, Civil Engineer; 75
LOWELL - Everett J. Young, age 75, a resident of Lowell for the past 26 years, died Christmas
night, Dec. 25, at the Blairehouse of Tewksbury, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of
Eileen B. (L’Esperance) Young, with whom he would have celebrated a 25th wedding anniversary
on Dec. 30th.
He was born in Boston, Feb. 9, 1929, the son of the late Florence Horne. He was raised in
Boston, and had lived in Wilmington before moving to Lowell in 1978.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Air Force.
He retired from MassHighway’s Civil Engineering Department in Arlington. He was a member of
MOSES Engineers of Massachusetts.
He was a devout Catholic, as a communicant, active volunteer, and Bible Study Group member of
the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell, and a member of the Third Order of Franciscans.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Joseph Young of Lowell; four step-children, Eileen
M. Thibeault of Lowell, Maryann B. Scott of Methuen, Maureen A. and her husband Edward
Overn of Noblesville, IN, Paul J. and his wife Jennifer (Van Law) Thibeault of Nashua; and seven
grandchildren, Courtney, Carolynne, Michaella Scott, Elizabeth and Kathryn Overn, Cora and
Zachary Thibeault.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated
Friday, Dec. 31, at 10:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, East Merrimack St.,
Lowell. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, East Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Oblate Father’s Infirmary Fund, P.O. Box 419,
Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
