Obituary

Betty Joyce Pickett (lovingly known as Mema), of Fernandina Beach, Florida, was promoted to heaven on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Mema had touched in some way throughout her memorable life.

Mema was born June 14, 1938 to John & Edith (Bradley) Moody in Jacksonville, Florida.
Mema loved spending time with family and friends, sewing, painting and traveling. She welcomed everyone into her home as family. She was a devoted member of Legacy Baptist Church.
Mema is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, JT "Pepa" Pickett.
Her children: Johnny(Wanda) Pickett, Robbie(Alice) Pickett, Stevie(Myra) Pickett, Danny(Kellie) Pickett and Joe(Janice) Pickett
Her grandchildren: Mandy(Lee) Chestnut, Angie(Devon) Cole, Steve(Angie) Pickett, Trace(Megan) Pickett, Robbie Pickett Jr. (Brooke), Bobby(Laura) Pickett, Jimmy(Katie) Pickett, Kevin(Elyse) Pickett, Joseph Pickett Jr., Tommy Willis, Josh(Alyssa) Pickett, Jessica Pickett, Brandan(Jessica) Buckley, Dustin Pickett, Chandler Pickett and Casey Pickett
Her great grandchildren: Nicole Hudson , Alexis Chestnut, Kennedy Cole, Clara Jane Pickett, Carter Pickett, Brooke Pickett, Kolton Pickett, Gage Pickett, Gunnar Pickett, Alexandra Pickett, JW Buckley, McKenna Pickett, Gentry Pickett, Tyler and Connor

She was preceded in death by her parents, John William Moody & Edith Bradley Moody.
A Celebration honoring the life and legacy of Mema will be held at 11 am Tuesday, January 27th, at Blackrock Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Green Pine Cemetery. Her grandsons will be pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Blackrock Baptist Church.
Flowers are welcome or donations in memory of Mema may be sent to Legacy Baptist Church or Hospice of Northeast Florida
