Patrick J. Kemple, 89, a long-time resident of Winchester, passed away on January 20th at the Belmont Manor Nursing Home, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Costello) Kemple.
The son of the late Dominick and Rose (Dolan) Kemple, Patrick was born, raised and educated in Moylough, County Galway, Ireland. He married Mary Costello, and they immigrated to the United States in 1960. They initially settled in Medford, and moved to Winchester in 1967. His daughters laughingly remembered that although he had lived in the United States for over 50 years, his thick Irish brogue never changed.
A carpenter specializing in residential construction, he owned and operated Kemple Construction for many years. Upon retirement, he was employed as the sexton at the Immaculate Conception Church, and later at St. Mary’s in Winchester. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and bingo.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Costello) Kemple, and the loving father of Rose Ferro and her husband Bob of Winchester, and Anne Scully and her husband Gerry of Melrose. He was also the dear brother of the late Mary Mannion, John, Michael and Tom Kemple. Pat was the devoted grandfather of Christine, Peter and his wife Kristin, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Margaret and her husband Josh Brown, great-grandfather of Kaitlyn, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
