Susan Joyce Garoutte
On January 13, 2015, Susan passed away at Hospice at The Chaplaincy in Richland, WA, after a courageous 10 month battle with cancer. She was 71 years old.
Susan was born in Sunnyside, WA, and was a lifetime resident of Central Washington. She was the fourth of twelve children born to Jack and Floy (Bunker) Meiser.
Susan married LeRoy Garoutte at a young age and started a family. She farmed asparagus before transitioning to a long career at Independent Foods in Sunnyside, WA. She took great pride in her work, was an excellent bowler and loved to fish!
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers David, Rob and George Meiser. She is survived by her sisters Patricia McLean, Linda Carriveau, Carol Barczyszyn, Delores Telles and Carmen Tobin, her brothers Fred, Dan and Andy Meiser and many nieces and nephews.
Susan leaves behind three children, their spouses and grandchildren who loved her very much. Her survivors include daughter Coleen Irby and her husband Randy of Prosser, daughter Heidi Garoutte of Seattle, son Jeff Garoutte and his wife Dara of Prosser and grand daughters Meaghan, Makinsi and Haley Garoutte.
Her children would like to acknowledge friends and family who made a point of actively helping and visiting Susan during her illness. A special thanks to Pat McLean, Jacquie Kovatovich, Carmen Tobin, Blanche Tobin, Mary Lee Robinson, Linda Carriveau, Jackie and Bill Carriveau and Dale McLean.
