Obituary

Judith Ann (Tobia) Devoe of Auburn passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

Born in Southbridge, Judy was the daughter of the late Thomas Tobia and her surviving mother, Rose Tobia. She leaves her husband, Ronald L. Devoe of Auburn, and her daughter, Karen L. Devoe of Venice Beach, CA. To many longstanding friends, Judy’s absence from their lives presents a tremendous loss.

Following high school, Judy graduated from Becker College with an Associate’s degree as a Medical Assistant, working in this field for Dr. George E. McCabe and Dr. Ivan M. Spear. Judy was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Services as well a CPR and First Aid Instructor, heading up the program at the Greendale Family YMCA for many years.

Judy was an active and devoted member of Park Congregational Church in Worcester, having sung in the church choir and served as Chair of the Diaconate for several years. As a loving and giving person, Judy was forever dedicated to service in any way for her church family.

As a semi-professional photographer, avid gardener and bird lover, Judy captured the beauty of God’s creation in prize-winning photographs, reminiscent of the words, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

A Memorial Service for Judy will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 11 AM in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, 111 Park Avenue, Worcester, with The Reverend Dr. Gary R. Shahinian, Pastor of Park Congregational Church, officiating. There are no calling hours.

Donations in memory of Judy may be made to NEADS, P.O. Box 1100, Princeton, MA 01541 or to Park Congregational Church, 111 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA 01609.
