Gertrude T. Foley, of Stoneham and a former resident of Woburn passed away peacefully January 19, 2015, at the Bear Hill Nursing Home following a lengthy period of declining health. She was 88 years of age. Gertrude was the beloved wife of Richard D. Foley and together they shared 63 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Hooper) Walsh.
Gertrude was raised and educated in Woburn and worked for many years as a telephone operator with the New England Telephone Company in Woburn. She has been a resident of Stoneham for over fifty years and was an active parishioner of St. Patrick Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed shopping and keeping up on the latest fashions. She also loved animals, especially dogs.
Gertrude is survived by her loving husband, Richard D. Foley. She is also survived by her devoted daughters, Sheila A. Foley and Elaine M. Foley, both of Stoneham.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, January 23rd, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
