George Y. Abunajm 85, formerly of Mendon Rd. passed away peacefully on Monday at Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Mireille (Mouawad) Abunajm. Born in Beirut, Lebanon he was one of nine children of the late Youssef and Aliya Abounajem. George worked as a machinist.
He is survived by his children Dany Abounajem and Charbel Abounajem, both of Cumberland, and Laure Marie Abounajem (Housey) of Southfield, Michigan, as well as five grandchildren, Mireille, Mitchell, Alexander, Julia and Sophia Housey.
His funeral will be held Thursday January 22, 2015, beginning with visitation at 10:00 a.m. in St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 1493 Cranston St. in Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland.
