…active in Tewksbury and St. William’s Parish; 81
TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Jacqueline M. “Jackie” (Holland) Fougere, age 81, a well known resident of this community for over six decades, passed peacefully after a period of declining health, on Monday night, January 19th, surrounded by her beloved family. She had celebrated sixty-one years of a loving marriage with Donald A. “Don” Fougere, last October 11th.
Jackie was born in Arlington, October 11, 1933, one of six children of the late Ralph J. and Anna M. (Cotter) Holland. She was raised in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School. After her marriage, she and Don moved to Tewksbury in 1954 to raise their family. While Jackie devoted her life to her husband and raising her family, she found time to participate in several town government committees. She and her husband were active communicants of St. William’s Parish, where they were active members of the Couples Club for many years, and she held elected offices in the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister. More recently, she was active at the Tewksbury Senior Center and member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club. She will be remembered for her warm but quiet demeanor, the twinkle in her eyes, and her pleasant welcoming smile.
Besides her beloved husband, she is survived by four children, Susan Egan and her husband Kevin of Bedford, Stephen M. Fougere of Stowe, VT, Mark J. Fougere and his wife Ruthie (Guttesman) of Milford, NH, and Glen A. Fougere and his wife Cathleen (Ouellette) of Rowley, MA; a sister, Elaine Bailey of Scottsdale, AZ; nine grandchildren, Catherine LaCroix and her husband Christopher of NH, Keith Egan DO of D.C., Jocelyn Rossi and her husband Scott of Belmont, Jacob Fougere of VT, Daniel Fougere and Nicole Fougere both of NH, Emily Fougere, Jack Fougere, and Benjamin Fougere all of Rowley; and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie was eagerly expecting the birth of her first great-grandchild, due in March; and was predeceased by her sisters, Virginia Kyle and her husband Frank, Jean Barbere and her husband Tony, Lois Crowley and her husband Jack, and Ann LaFrance. She was also predeceased by her brother -in-law Jim Bailey.
Visiting hours Thursday, Jan. 22, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38)TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Friday, Jan. 23, at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte.38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury. GAC service Thursday at 4:30.
