Corene E. Day, 87, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Robert Chaudoin officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, in Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Day was born January 27, 1927, in Blackshear, Georgia, to the late David Eli Holton and Pauline Thornton Holton Tucker. She lived in the community most of her life and worked for Fitzgerald Mills as a winder. Mrs. Day was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Linda Kaye Steverson and Royce of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren: Shawn Christopher Day of Florida, Michelle & Joey Culpepper of Fitzgerald, Mitchell D. & Crystal Bostick of Wray, Sean Michael & Pam Steverson of Fitzgerald and Brandy Day Giacomo of Oklahoma and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Edward Day and her son: Ronnie Edward Day.
