NATICK: Albert Weisman, age 86, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend entered into rest on Friday, January 16, at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in Natick. He was the beloved husband for 63 years of the late Phyllis (Trachtman) Weisman who passed away in May of 2013.
Born in Winthrop, MA, he was the third of six children of the late Charles and Minnie Weisman, and grew up in Revere. Albert was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army Occupation Forces in Japan in 1946.
Albert and Phyllis, who met on Revere Beach, were married in 1950. After short residences in Miami, FL and Revere, they settled in Peabody to raise their two sons. In addition to running his own printing business, Albert began exploring painting and sculpting, and was an avid tennis player and golfer. In 1970, Albert and Phyllis moved to Natick. Albert's interest in sculpting grew, and he took many classes at The Museum School and Mass. College of Art. In 2002, Phyllis and Albert moved to Sudbury.
In 2005, Albert was awarded the prestigious Copley Master in Sculpture designation from the Copley Art Society. He continued to play golf, always carrying his own clubs, until finally retiring at age 83. Albert and Phyllis were also constant in their many friendships, some having been fostered since grade school.
Albert is survived by two sons, Robert M. Weisman and his wife Susan of Ashland, and Eric A. Weisman and his companion Tracy Willis of Owensboro, KY; a grandson, Ross E. Weisman and his wife Reneé of Framingham; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Arthur Weisman of Revere, Harold Weisman of New Hampshire, Daniel Weisman of California and the late Marion (Weisman) Schreibman of Swampscott and William Weisman of California.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, MA. Burial will follow at Dell Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Donations may be made in Albert's memory to The Alzheimer's Association.
