Obituary

Princeton: Russell Swinton Oatman, 87, nationally renowned architect, died 1/16/15 in Worcester. He was president of Russell Swinton Oatman Design. He developed the Bow House and published the Old Sturbridge Village Reproduction House Plans Collection. He was a member of Who’s Who in the East, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the American Institute of Architects.
Russell was born in Lynn, son of the late Charles and Blanche Oatman. He graduated from Marblehead High School and attended the Boston Architectural Center. He worked for several Boston firms before founding his own.
He leaves his daughter Barbara DiTaranto, 2 granddaughters, a brother Robert Oatman of ME, and a niece Stephanie Naunton.
He will be buried in Maine at a later date. No calling hours or funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Princeton Public Library.
