Fall River – Maria Fatima Ferreira, age 58 of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of Isabel (Costa) and Jose Ferreira.
Maria moved to this country 43 years ago and worked at Carol Cable and, later, at Quaker Fabrics. Many described Maria as an Angel who loved her family very much especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her 2 children: Patricia Garganta and her husband, Mark, of Riverside, RI and Kevin Ferreira and his wife, Kaohlee, of Warren, RI; 2 grandchildren: Jake and Owen; 10 siblings: Lurdes Laranja, Ana Couto, Grace and Lucy Ferreira, Diane Dunn, Frank Ferreira, Steve Ferreira, Eddy Ferreira, Joe Ferreira and John Ferreira; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. with a Religious Service at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, Ma.
