Quagliaroli, John A. John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judi (Fowler), his sons Peter J. and James J., daughters-in-law Laura (Hunter) and Kimberly (Henry), grandsons John, Joseph, and Henry, brother Robert F., and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, son of the late John and Mary (Salvatore) Quagliaroli. John graduated from Newington High School, where he was captain of the basketball and baseball teams. As a youth, he pitched the first no-hitter in Connecticut Little League history.
John was appointed to the U.S. Military Academy by Senators Prescott Bush and William Purtell. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), where he played soccer, basketball, and baseball and graduated with a BSEE. Following graduation from WPI, he joined the Army and was an expert marksman stationed at Fort Ritchie, Maryland.
He earned his MBA from Syracuse University and was recruited by IBM where he met his future wife, Judi. Following IBM, he joined Citibank, which sponsored him for the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development. He then later served as Vice President of Corporate Development for Dynatech Corporation. In 1987, he founded Fowler, Anthony & Co., a mergers and acquisitions consulting firm that he ran as owner/president until 2014.
John loved youth sports, and for over two decades coached numerous soccer, basketball, and baseball teams. He was an ardent supporter of Boston Children’s Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and he will be remembered for his unassuming generosity.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Avenue, Needham, on Sunday, January 18th from 2:00-4:00pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Funeral Mass in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes, 270 Elliot Street, Newton Upper Falls, on Monday, January 19th at 10:30am. Interment private.
