Janet (Vincent)" Erskine, 91, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2015. She was the daughter of Leda and George Vincent, and loving wife for fifty-five years of John Erskine 2nd who passed away in 2006. Janet is survived by four children; James Erskine and his wife Carol Erskine; Marie Erskine Ranfos and her husband, Steven Ranfos; Mark Erskine and his wife Cheri Erskine; and Michael Erskine and his wife Andrea Erskine. Her daughter Joanne Erskine passed away in 2002. Janet is also survived by her sister Laurette Hamilton of Seattle Washington and her sister-in law Viola Vincent, as well as her brother in law Robert Erskine of Ocean Springs, Ms. Her brother Leo Vincent passed away in 2009. She leaves thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and eleven nieces and nephews.
As a young teen, Janet contracted polio and miraculously recovered after spending time in an iron lung. She regained her ability to walk, and went on to attend West High School in Manchester and later graduated from the Hesser Business School. She worked as a secretary for several years at Amoskeag Chicopee Mills after her graduation. Janet belonged to St. Raphael’s Parish in Manchester. She was also a long time member of the American Legion Post 79 auxiliary. She spoke fluent French and was proud of her French Canadian heritage. She loved being surrounded by her family and was a devoted wife and mother. Janet will be missed by her loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, January 19, 2015 at St. Raphael Church. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
