Barbara F. Robertson, 97, of Derry, formerly of Lawrence, MA passed Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Windham Terrace Healthcare of Windham, after a period of declining health. She was born February 1, 1917 in Methuen, MA and was a daughter of the late Ralph C. and Etta (Reinhold) Rutter. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1934 and from Simmons College of Boston in 1938.
Barbara was very active in Lawrence and served as president of the Lawrence YWCA and Lawrence Garden Club. She loved gardening, flower arranging, and was a nationally accredited Master Flower Show Judge. She spent summers at her beloved cottage on Big Island Pond in Derry, NH.
Members of the family include two sons, Joe and his wife Gail Robertson and Peter Robertson, both of Derry, NH. Barbara was surrounded by her grandchildren, Dean, Adam, Barbara Jean, Ashley and Brittany, three great grandchildren, Stuart, Jordan and Leonardo and her dear niece, Jo Marie Schreibman of Harwich, MA. Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life, Joseph Robertson, Sr. and her granddaughter, Tara.
There are no calling hours. After cremation, a memorial mass will be held at St. Matthews Church of Windham at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Big Island Pond, PO Box 222, Hampstead, NH 03841.
