Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Arline C. (Brown) Poole, 98, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Winchendon, Massachusetts on March 11, 1916, a beloved daughter of the late Carroll M. and Eva J. (Abare) Brown. She was raised in Winchendon and graduated from Murdock High School in Winchendon before graduating and receiving her degree from Gardner State Hospital. She moved to East Springfield in1943 and then received a degree from Westfield State Teachers College. She was employed for many years as a school teacher at Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School and the former Holy Name Elementary School, both in Chicopee. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a longtime communicant of Saint Mary Church, now Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. She was a longtime CCD Teacher and received the prestigious Pope Pius X Award for her many years of service. She was an instructor for many years for the parish First Communion Class, a longtime Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Saint Mary’s Women’s Club. Most of all, she was a loving homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Ernest A. Poole, Sr. who was Called Home on December 19, 1971. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her loving son, Raymond L. Poole, Sr. who was Called Home on November 17, 2006; her loving daughter-in-law, Nancy A. (Toohey) Poole who was Called Home on March 14, 2010; her loving son-in-law, Richard G. Girard who was Called Home on July 16, 1992; her two cherished grandsons, Daniel J. Girard who was Called Home on March 15, 1983 and David J. Poole who was Called Home on June 24, 2006; and her dear brother, Raymond Brown. She leaves her loving children, Mary Lynn Girard of Springfield with whom she lived, Ernest A. Poole, Jr. of Springfield, David N. Poole of Winchester, NH, and Eva A. Bellucci and her husband, David, of Springfield; her 19 cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Stebbins and her husband, Lionel, Raymond Poole and his wife, Barbara, Joseph Girard and his partner, Brian Tasso, Cheryl Olson, Michele McNaughton and her husband, Michael, Mary Beth Caouette and her husband, Michael, Michael Poole, Timothy Poole and his wife, Diane, Brenda McMahon and her husband, William, Corey Poole-Brown, David Bellucci and his wife, Christina, Ernest Poole, III and his wife, Juanita, Jessica Sibilia and her husband, James, Joshua Poole and his wife, Sandra, Kristen Murphy and her husband, Sean, Eva Luther and her husband, Cory, Rachel Daniels and her husband, Clifton, Dayna Chisholm and her husband, Samuel, and Daniel Poole; her 35 cherished great-grandchildren; her four cherished great-great grandchildren; her dear daughters-in-law, Sandra Poole, Marianne Griffin, Priscilla Poole and Tammy Poole; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Poole and Brown families. Her family would like to express their thanks to Mary, Luz, Alice, Nikita, Zee and Felicity for the outstanding care and comfort that they provided to Arline over the last several years. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, January 19, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107,(funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 12 Noon at Calvary Cemetery, Glenellen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
