Larry Gene Tucker, 65, of Tifton died Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Gerald Purvis officiating. Ricky Justice will give a eulogy. Mr. Tucker will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Terry Nichols, Charles Rogers, Larry McMillan, Roger Clayton, Gary Dove and Mike Coleman will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Tucker was born on February 14, 1949 in Irwin County and was the son of Vivian Stone Tucker of Tifton and the late Marvin Winston Tucker. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Winston Tucker and Ander Prentice Tucker. He was co-founder of Tucker Brothers Construction Company and attended New River Baptist Church in Tifton. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Dona Hall Tucker of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Dereck Tucker and wife, Paige of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Tucker Kelly and husband, Paul of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Ricky Justice of Tifton; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Tucker of Tifton; three grandchildren, Lawson Kelly, Mary “Sugar Plum” Pierce and Bodey Tucker; and two step-grandchildren, Taylor and Blane Corbett.
