Obituary

Octavia "Tavy" (Perry) Viera, 90, of Acushnet died April 1, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late Manuel G. Viera,and daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Medeiros) Perry.

She was born in Acushnet, and lived in Acushnet for most of her life.

Mrs. Viera was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.

She was a beloved grandmother who was known as "Granny" to all. She was a neighborhood nurse to her friends and neighbors. She was a member of St. Mary's Church Prayer Group and had been a volunteer at Alden Court Nursing Home.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Naomi S. Barboza of Lakeville and Dorothy M. Ventura of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, George Perry of Florida; 7 grandchildren, Charles E. Barboza of Lakeville, Linda S. O'Brien of Raynham, Brian R. Barboza of Bristol, RI, Marlene B. Manley of Dartmouth, Lori J. Longworth of Taunton, Michael A. Ventura of New Bedford, and Mark A. Ventura of Las Vegas, Nevada; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was the grandmother of the late David A. Barboza.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday April 5, 2002 at 10 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Route 6, Mattapoisett, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven at 11 AM. Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday April 4, 2002 from 6-9 PM.
