Obituary

Virginia A. (Mitchell) (Polito) Derochea, age 77, of Brockton, died January 9, 2015 at New England Sinai Hospital following a period of failing health. She was the loving wife for 30 years of Stephen E. Derochea. Born and raised in Boston, Ginny was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Manzoni) Mitchell. She was a graduate of Emmanuel College, and for 15 years she was a Home Health Aide for one special patient. A strong, determined and outgoing woman, Ginny enjoyed time with her husband and family, as well as Bingo and trips to Twin Rivers and Foxwoods.
She is also survived by her children John Polito, Sr. of NH, Debra Golden of Laconia NH, William Polito of Norton, James Polito of Cambridge, Robert Polito of Laconia, NH and Kathleen Polito of San Mateo, CA; 11 grandchildren; Robert Golden, Carmen, William Jr., Michael, Thomas, David, James Jr., Jessica, Gabby, Gena, Angelica and Felica Polito; five great grandchildren Tessa Golden, Brooke, Emerly, Samuel and Noah Polito, two brothers Kenneth and Robert Mitchell both of Milton, and a sister Mary Vonfryman of Scituate. She was the mother of the late Barbara Polito and sister of the late Larry Mitchell.
Family services were held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton, followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery. Donations in Ginny’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
