James Edward Eason, 79, of Tifton died Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. William “Tony” Roberts officiating. Mr. Eason will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Toney Anderson, Dalton Ellis, Lamar Griffin, Ricky Harris, Joshua Moore, Michael Moore Jr., Ryan Moore and Jimmy Roberts will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Eason was born on March 11, 1935 in Tifton and was the son of William Edward Eason and Avilee Hughes Eason, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Eason Hall. He retired from Tifton Aluminum after 25 years as a tool and die maker and was also retired from the United States Air Force, after serving 22 years. He was a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton and a former member and deacon of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Berrien County.
Mr. Eason is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Barnes Eason of Tifton; two sons, Edward C. Eason of Tifton and Dr. J. Christopher Eason of Warner Robins; three daughters, Nannette Eason Harris of Ashburn, Edith “Dee Dee” Eason Sapp of Enigma and Erin Eason Mashburn of Tifton; one sister, Ruby E. Bowman of Delhi, Louisiana; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
