HAVERHILL: Elaine (Vargis) Taslis, 74, died Sunday, January 11, 2015 in the Winchester Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Kostas Taslis.
Born in Cambridge on April 14, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Aris and Ann (Jeuvelis) Vargis. She graduated from the former Roger Hall Boarding School of Lowell and received and Associates Degree from Endicott College in Beverly. She was a resident of Haverhill for several years and previously had lived in Lexington and Winchester where she spent the majority of her life.
Elaine worked as a Secretary at Gillette and for a law firm in Boston for several years but here real passion was being a Realtor. She worked for different agencies throughout the years. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and the National Philoptochos Society for Greek Orthodox Ladies. Elaine was proud of her Greek heritage and was especially good at cooking Greek food and desserts. It was her way to keep her family happy through her cooking. She was a talented seamstress and dog lover. She was very fond of Yorkshire Terriers and always kept her “Daisy” close to her heart after she passed away.
In addition to her husband she was survived by her loving daughter, Anastasia Taslis and her sister-in-law, Maria Taslis.
A funeral service for Elaine will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 12 Noon. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 pm in the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Newburyport.
