Obituary

S. Arthur Lauro of Canton passed away January 11th at the Harrington House in Walpole surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Roxbury, he graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and received his Master’s in Education from Fitchburg State College. Arthur was a member of the “Sons of Bitche” 100th Infantry Division during WW II and he and his wife Helena attended many conventions with his “buddies”. Arthur was a true American and loved his country and was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton. A loving couple for 68 years they enjoyed spending time together and travel. He built a home in Falmouth where he and his family and friends enjoyed many happy days. Arthur was a teacher at the Norwood Junior High School for many years before retiring. Beloved husband for 68 years of Helena C. (Giardino). Father of Philip A. Lauro of Maine. Brother in law of Josephine Sylvester of Canton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Thursday morning at 10:30. Relatives and friends invited to attend visitation at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday morning prior to the mass from 9 to 10 am. Burial VA National Cemetery, Bourne Thursday at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veteran’s Service Department 801 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021.
