John A. "Jack-Ski" Kacvinsky, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, January 12, 2015 at his home in Charlestown following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 67 years old.
Jack was born in Medford on May 19, 1947, a son of the late Joseph Kacvinsky and Agnes (Breen) Kacvinsky. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1965. Jack enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on December 30, 1965 and served his country with courage and honor during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on December 13, 1968 with the rank of Corporal. Jack worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 35 years and retired several years from the J.F.K. Federal Building. He was a member of the Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus, The Halligan Club of Charlestown and The Somerville City Club. Jack was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Jack is the beloved husband of 45 years to Rita G. (Scales) Kacvinsky. He is the devoted father of Kathleen Kacvinsky and Phil, Jack Kacvinsky and his wife Maureen and Joe Kacvinsky. He is the loving Grandpa to Madison, Philip, Meghan, Evelyn and Nola. He is the beloved brother of Thomas Kacvinsky and the late Joanne Kacvinsky.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jack's visiting hours on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 4 to 8 P.M. with his Funeral Service at 7:30 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial is private.
