Obituary


Virginia Ruvido passed away peacefully at the Wingate Nursing Center in Andover. She was 90. Born and raised in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Gaspare and Francesca (Tusa) Pecorella.

Virginia was a Medford resident for most of her life. She and her late husband John, a retired Medford Police Officer, raised their children in Medford. Virginia worked for many years as a sales clerk in local jewelry shops. Many people counted on her kind advice when selecting that perfect gift for someone special. After their retirement, she and her husband moved to Tewksbury where they enjoyed the company of their loving grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

The beloved wife of the late John D. Ruvido who passed away in 2012, she was a devoted mother to Janice DiPietro and her husband Robert of Tewksbury, John Ruvido and his wife Heidi of Wakefield, and Cynthia Perrone of Lowell. She was a loving grandmother to Robert DiPietro Jr. of Georgetown, Adrienne Ernest and her husband Robert of Tolland CT, and Gregory Perrone of Chelmsford. She also leaves her loving great grandchildren: Skylar DiPietro, Allyse and Francesca Ernest. She was the sister of the late Frank and Joseph Pecorella and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday January 15th at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Wednesday 4 – 8 PM.
